Lumex LCD review Element14 sent me this 16 x 4 LCD made by Lumex (Newark part # 19J7671) to review and use in a project. It's a reflective dot matrix type LCD that uses the standard HD 4470 protocol so it's pretty easy to use with micro controllers. It produces good crisp characters and it can be configured with a simple potentiometer to control contrast. It requires a 5 volt power supply so it can be easily powered. I was pleased with the ease of use and the data sheet provided me with all the info I needed. I used this on a project recently as a readout display for a Laser Range Finder.
